The Story of Elgin Carpet One Floor & Home

Founded by entrepreneur Jan Versteeg, Elgin Carpet One Floor & Home began as a family-run business operating out of a garage under the name Elgin Floor and Wall Tile. His brothers soon joined Jan, George, and Tom, and the company became Elgin Floor Covering Ltd. In 1976, we moved to 1026 Talbot Street, a former car wash station, where we continue to serve the community today.

In 1991, we became a Canadian charter member of Carpet One, North America's largest independent flooring co-op. This partnership allows us to offer the benefits of local, personalized service with the buying power of a national network, ensuring competitive pricing without compromising quality.
